Steve Rixx was born and raised in the sleepy little east Texas town of Lufkin. His first foray into broadcasting was working full-time overnights at a very small radio station while attending college to become an x-ray technician. What started as a job to pay for college, soon became a career that has continued for more than 18 years.
It doesn't get more "country" than deep east Texas, so not only was Steve surrounded by the sights of the country, but the sounds of country music. After only working for 2 years on the radio, Steve received a job offer from KYKS, "KICKS 105", the #1 radio station in his hometown of Lufkin. There he worked his way from evenings to afternoon drive, and also became music director. Steve's travels around Texas took him to several other radio stations, where he cultivated his deep knowledge of country music. Finally in early 2004, opportunity came knocking in the form of a job, on the air, at the legendary 100.3KILT, the #1 country music radio station in Houston Texas. Steve currently entertains "H-Town" weekdays from 10am-3pm.
Steve and his wife Elise live in the Houston area and they are the proud parents of two children, Zackary and Zara, and one miniature dachshund named Bailey. Steve says, "I've dreamed of living in Houston and working at KILT for a long time. It's great that I get to wake up everyday, in the greatest city in the world, and go to work at such an incredible radio station. Thanks for making me feel welcome."
